FAILING in MOCK to 60 in CA FINAL in SCMPE! HOW?
This subject gave me the most amount of headache. I failed the mock test. But in the final exam, I got an exemption!
That too by making a simple switch – shifting my focus from practical to theory. Here’s what I mean.
Key Takeaways
- The theory portion is underrated in SCMPE
- Memorise keywords
- Speed up in the exam
Why did I fail?
See, I took 3 Mock Tests (2 partial and 1 full course) and failed at all of them for SCMPE.
And I got so low marks because:
- I was too slow and couldn’t even attempt the case study question for 20 marks. That’s because practical questions took a lot of time.
- I made a lot of silly mistakes in the practical questions and I lost marks even in those questions which I knew how to solve.
So I switched my strategy – I attempted theory questions more in case of optional questions.
Benefit of switching
- Reading theory questions and answering them doesn’t take too long. This helped me attempt the case study question as well.
- You need special talent to make a lot of silly mistakes in theory.
- At least 50% of the paper was theory and I lacked confidence in this area.
Changes in preparation
I made some changes in my preparation for attempting more of theory.
- Memorised keywords a lot more. I used Atul Aggarwal Sir’s free notes from telegram to highlight them again in my SM.
- Memorised the keywords in Module 3 as well. This is very important as some keywords given here are missing from the first 2 modules.
- Solved 3 previous attempt papers to improve and gain confidence.
- Gave another private mock test and I finally passed this time!
Bonus:
I kept 3rd revision just for this, for putting in more effort on those 1-2 subjects that might fail me. AND IT WORKED!
I hope this post is useful for you. All the best for your exams! See you later!
