From Backbencher to Topper

Me as a kid

Some children are academically gifted and find it relatively easy to get marks, others like to run away from their studies and just play all day long. This, however, doesn’t mean that there is any difference between the intelligence of these 2 categories of kids. In the words of Richard Feynman,

“Never confuse education with intelligence, you can have a PhD and still be an idiot.

I never knew this as a kid and always assumed that since I wasn’t good at studies, maybe I was not as smart as anyone else.

(This statement isn’t entirely true, I was good at math. In fact, I was great at it! I used to love it because it seemed like an activity rather than a task.)

Things changed…

Things changed slowly over my school life and I turned into an average student. Then in Class 10, I made a decision to study properly for all subjects. Result? By Class 11 half yearly I was a topper! In Class 12 Boards Exams I got the second highest marks in the commerce stream (highest in my class!) and the highest marks in Economics in the whole school (99/100)!

Cut to today

Today, I’m a Chartered Accountant and I cleared CA Final on the first attempt (it’s a big deal). I graduated from Kirori Man College, University of Delhi and I’ve cleared CFA Level I and II Exams (both on the first attempt and with >90 percentile). However, this journey wasn’t smooth sailing.

I started teaching school kids at Robin Hood Academy in December 2021 and am learning a lot in my role as a teacher. Also, I’ve got this website now where I can post about my experiences and learnings so that you, the readers, can get some guidance on how ANYONE can get marks like a topper!
